Description
This is the packraft that started it all. That changed the game of backcountry travel and the raft that everyone has been copying since.
And I think we’ve come full circle to where this might be the best into level packraft on the market. It’s simple, it’s light and it’s upgradable. For a long time I’d recommend people to buy a gnarwhal or a wolverine right off the bat, but everyone’s trying to save some dollars now-a-days and perhaps one of the best ways to do this is to start your packrafting journey off with a classic.
Plenty good enough for chilled out trip or even the Hollyford Pyke loop. It gets you into the game. Sure it might not come with thigh straps, a high end foam back band, or drainage holes for self bailing… but you can upgrade these things over the years. Build up your rig incrementally. Or not. One of the best things about buying an Alpacka is that they hold their value incredibly well. The shelf live of one of these is measured in decades not months. Maybe this is all you’ll ever need.
There’s no compromise in build quality of theser hand made rafts and they sure are light AF compared to the all singing all dancing models. This is a OG packraft…. and if it aint broke…
