Description
This is the cutting edge of packrafting. Since its inception, packrafts have always been met with a level of skepticism from serious paddlers because they were not viewed as capable water craft. In 2014 Alpacka made their first steps towards rectifying this with the Alpackalypse and, honestly, the pursuit a highly capable but transportable raft has not stopped since.
The Valkeryie was created as the result of more than a decade of development (Sheri Tingey, the chief designer, says this the result of 60 years of design experience!) when the V1 was released to the general public. Following feedback from hundreds of customers, incremental improvements brought us to the V2 and now finally the V3.
This thing is a weapon.
If you’re flavour of packrafting sees you eyeing up the Upper Uppers of our West Coast rivers, or you’re just used to handling a kayak and want to take that experience onto a remotely accessed river without carrying a 20kg kayak, then this is your boat.
For intermediate or novice paddlers, this packraft is likely to represent a steep ass learning curve and is probably aspirational. The valkeryie V3 is fast, holds reliable edge and has aggressive both stern and bow rocker to make it ideal for steep creeks and must make boofs. It carves, it boofs like an absolute joke and is easiest packraft to roll.
It’s not hyperbole to call this thing a game changer. This is what your packrafting hero paddles.
