Beginner Friendly Overnight Packrafting Adventures
Rees Valley Overnight Packrafting Trip
Our most popular and longest running Overnight Packrafting Trip takes place in the Rees Valley. On this trip we're able to enjoy this beautiful and remote valley in a way that few others get to experience. We spend a full day hiking around the stunning upper Rees Valley by foot and then by raft. The real highlight is the side quests on this trip as we visit parts of the valley such as Lennox Falls and 25 Mile Creek, that many miss, before floating back to our private camp spot.
The next day we set off to explore the middle section of thew Rees with its bouncy Grade 2 rapids. Your guide will train you up to navigate your own boat through exciting rapids, which is defiantly a step up from day one! After a river side lunch, the river opens up as you head into the lower stretches of the Rees. We aim to be taking off the river mid afternoon to get everyone back to Queenstown with plenty of time for their onwards travel plans, whether that be checking into a hotel in Queenstown, or continuing travel onto the next destination.
Trip Details:
Duration: 2 day, 1 night
Difficulty: 🟢Novice friendly. Easy hiking and paddling on day 1. More challenging paddling day 2.
Wanaka Overnight Packrafting Adventure
The Wanaka overnight Packrafting Adventure is designed as a taste of "traditional packrafting" where you carry everything you need with you. We'll explore the East Matukituki Valley in the Mt Aspiring National Park- another beautiful and quiet valley. Beginning any trip with a river crossing often ensures that only the truely adventurous get to experience the places we venture.
Day one is an honest hike carrying everything we need for a self sufficient packrafting adventure. If you've ever fancied trying packrafting for yourself, but have no idea where to start, this is an excellent introduction. After a rewarding hike in towards Aspiring Flats, we'll spend the night in our tents ready to wake up refreshed in order to begin our paddle back out of the valley.
Pack your raft, then raft your pack, a packrafing purest's dream!
