Tyvek Tape has long been a scarce commodity in NZ but no longer! Hurrah! We have a good supply of this versatile repair tape. IT’s ideal for packrafts because it is highly waterproof and traditionally used as a weather barrier in the building industry. It’s quick and dirty to use in the field and can help fix pin holes or some of the massive gashes that you often see with cheaper packrafts. Tyvek can become a permanent fixture if left on too long, which is testament to how strong it is and how well the acrylic adhesive can bond to TPU.

Best practice is to dry and clean the surface with alcohol or solvent to remove oils or dirt, Cut a small patch of tape rounding the corners if possible and avoiding touching the sticky side at all. Smooth the tape onto the boat ensuring good contact over the full service of the tape and hay presto you’re good to go. Should get you home at least. Remove as soon as you can or embrace the dirt bag packrafter look like a badge of honour. We have smaller rolls available too.
