Paddles

We’re pretty proud of these paddles.

Before Packrafting came alone, 4 piece paddles were spares. Busted out only in an emergency when you’ve lot yours and find yourself up a certain creek without one.  They have not necessarily been made with longevity in mind. Better quality break down paddles are available on the market but at a high price point and most often only in 2 pieces- fine if you’ve strolling through the sunny upland mountainous ridge lines…. less ideal if you’re making your way through west coast or Fjordland bush.

Other paddle manufacturers saw how the lusty eyeballs of packrafters were drawn towards the ultralight things…. which then have a tendency to snap on you in some awkward places and situations. For us, being in remote settings was not were you want gear failure and we’ve quickly learned that this is an area where weight is not the most important metric.

We also stove to create a paddle that wouldn’t break the bank either. We strove for high quality, durability, performance, packable and as light as was practicable. All without needing to remortgage your house of sell a kidney.

Years of trial and error, component testing and the rigours of guide life have lead us to our range of Traverse Paddles.
